Women’s Month Webinars

In honor of Women’s History Month, The Makazi Foundation hosted two virtual webinars to spotlight and support the unique challenges and achievements of women in Malawi and beyond. These webinars served as a platform for learning, dialogue, and empowerment; touching on critical issues that affect women’s health, safety, and leadership across various spaces.

This initiative aligns with SDG 5: Gender Equality, SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, and SDG 4: Quality Education, reinforcing our commitment to breaking barriers and building an inclusive future for all.

About the project

Starting point

Recognizing the need for safe, engaging, and educational spaces where women’s voices and experiences are amplified, The Makazi Foundation curated a two-part online webinar series in March 2023. These sessions brought together thought leaders, professionals, and young women to share insights, personal stories, and strategies for overcoming gender-related challenges in Malawi.

Themes Covered

Across both sessions, participants explored a range of empowering and thought-provoking topics, including:

  • Gender-Based Violence (GBV)

  • Women in Science and STEM Fields

  • Mental Health and Emotional Resilience

  • Women in the Workplace

  • Women as Entrepreneurs and Economic Leaders

Each session was designed to provide both inspiration and actionable guidance—encouraging attendees to advocate for themselves and others, while also highlighting real opportunities for growth, leadership, and community impact.

Celebrating, Educating, and Empowering Women Across All Sectors
Community Engagement and Impact

The webinars attracted a diverse online audience of young women, professionals, students, and community leaders, with lively participation and feedback. Many attendees shared how the sessions expanded their understanding of women’s rights, mental health, and career development, and provided a renewed sense of motivation to pursue their goals.

By creating accessible online spaces like these, The Makazi Foundation continues to bridge gaps in knowledge and support systems, while nurturing a generation of women who are confident, capable, and ready to lead.
